Phil has been teaching people of all ages to swim since 1989.  He is certified by the American Red Cross as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor.  Before switching to the American Red Cross he was an Aquatic Instructor Trainer for the YMCA of the USA.

While a member of the United States Marine Corps, 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, Phil attained the highest swimming qualification issued by the Corps, Water Safety Qualified or WSQ.  The WSQ test was a one hour survival test with boots and camouflage utilities where the swimmer was harassed by test administrators including hot and cold water sprays and forced submersions.  All this while roped into a small area of the pool filled with debris.  Additionally, he completed the Special Forces Combat Diver's course which is known as one of the most physically demanding certification courses in the military.

Phil completed many other military certifications and trainings that included rigorous swimming components, of those Amphibious Reconnaissance and Ranger School are the most notable.  Phil competes in swimming, running, and cycling and is available for group and one-on-one sessions.
